Q:  Isn't the poor man's copyright sufficient?

A:  Registering your material with the Library of Congress is the only way to legally copyright material  the ("Poor Man" copyright mailing material back to yourself) has never stood up in a legal court room.

Q:  Why should I register my copyright?

A:  The Library of Congress is the only way to legally copyright material and protect your material from being infringed upon, and the only way to collect infringement statutory damages.

Q: What should I send Register My Copyright?

A: A final copy of the material wanting copyrighted

Q:  How soon will my copyright be effective?

A:  Your copyright will be effective as soon as it is in good order and received by the U.S. Copyright Office.

Q:  How soon will my copyright be processed?

A:  It takes from three to eight months for the U.S. Copyright Office to process your application, but your copyright becomes effective as soon as it is received by the Office. (Provided full payment and all material  has been received.)

Q:  When will I receive my certificate of registration of my application?

A:  You will be mailed your certificate of registration of your application as soon as we receive it from the U.S. Copyright Office.
